Before picking a collaboration type or a compensation structure, it's worth understanding what a campaign actually is in Socialscale, where it shows up, and — critically — where the money for it comes from. This is the overview; Choosing a Collaboration Type covers the type-by-type detail.
How this connects across Socialscale
One thing, two views
"Campaign" and "collaboration" mean the same thing in Socialscale. Once created, a campaign shows up in two places at once:
- Your Campaigns list — the admin view: every collaboration, its type, status, spend against budget, and performance
- The creator's Creator Hub — any creator activated into a collaboration sees it directly inside their own Creator Hub, alongside the brief and terms, next to their Storefront and Wallet
There's no separate system for briefing creators — the same place they signed up and see their storefront is where they see what they've been activated into.
Funded from Marketing budget
Every campaign draws from your account's Marketing budget — a separate balance from the Credits that fund AI Workforce and tracking (see Credits and marketing budget: two separate balances for the full distinction). Socialscale handles disbursing Marketing budget across every active campaign and every creator in it. There's no separate budget to manage per campaign or per creator — just the one balance to keep funded.
Socialscale is the Payer of Record
Socialscale doesn't just move money on your behalf — it's the Payer of Record for every creator payment: the party legally and operationally responsible for the payment itself, including tax handling. You're not issuing 1099s or managing international payment compliance for a growing creator roster; that's handled for you. See Creator Payments for the full picture of what that covers.
Pro tip
You can see every payment made to every creator, across every campaign, directly in your Socialscale Dashboard — there's no need to reconcile against a separate finance tool to know what's gone out.
Performance-based campaigns pay themselves
The clearest example of this in action: a performance-based campaign. Socialscale tracks the underlying metric — views on a post, for example — on an ongoing basis, checked daily, and pays the creator directly into their Wallet as performance accrues. Nobody on your team reviews view counts and manually approves a payment; tracking and payout are the same automated loop.
Watch out
Because performance-based payouts are automatic and continuous, they can draw down your Marketing budget faster than discretionary platform usage does. Keep an eye on the balance while a performance-based campaign with a large roster is active.
